Nigeria's Feed Sector Enters a New Growth Phase

Nigeria's feed manufacturing industry is expanding steadily, with growing activity in aquafeed and the emergence of a new segment: cattle nutrition.
The aquafeed sector continues to attract new capacity. Kamar Feeds brought a 70,000 MT/year plant online in June 2026, following First Giwa's 40,000 MT/year facility launched in 2025.
New Hope has since added a further 50,000 MT/year, and Haid is due to enter the market in January 2027. These newcomers now operate alongside established industry players such as Skretting, Olam, Hybrid, Ace, and Top Feeds. A second development is taking shape in livestock nutrition.

On September 11, 2026, Olam Nigeria launched its first dedicated cattle feed, capping three years of government investment through the L-PRES program to revive domestic beef and dairy production. That push has drawn U.S. genetics leaders URUS and STgenetics into the country with advanced cattle semen, genetics that can only deliver on their promise with the right nutrition behind them. Hybrid and ADVA have followed suit with their own cattle feed lines.

Together, these developments signal a feed industry expanding on two fronts: continued investment in aquafeed capacity and the emergence of commercial cattle nutrition as a new growth segment.
